Running has been a part of Simon’s management of the symptoms of PTSD for many years. Simon has committed his life to educate and raise awareness of PTSD, a too often undetected and unseen disability that affects so many soldiers, as well as their families and friends.

Simon is a firm believer that one should utilise one’s past experiences and turn them into a positive; he therefore strives to assist people wherever he can so that others can benefit from his strength and determination.

In 2009 Simon completed a NLP Practitioners course as another tool he felt may help him manage the symptoms of PTSD. He has also used NLP to assist other people with a variety of conditions so that they may have a better quality of life. He has assisted and encouraged many people to take up running and coached people from novices to marathon.

After a gruelling task of running 70miles in 17hours without any previous training in -10C’ in 2010, Simon was inspired to take on a personal challenge to conquer his physical limitations whilst offering his efforts to the benefit of the UK’s largest veteran charity Help for Heroes.

Roundhay Park Marathons

As part of the 100 Marathons in 100 Weeks challenge, at least one marathon a month will be held in Roundhay Park in Leeds.

A course has been measured accurately by a professional road running course measurer and will enable sponsors and the public to come along and run with Simon or simply support by fundraising for Help for Heroes.

The course is multiple laps around the park; making it flexible for those that would like to join in to support Simon, choosing to run anything from one mile to the full 26.2 miles.

Treadmill Marathons

We are planning a number of marathons to be completed on a treadmill in shopping centres and gyms around the North of England marathon distance of 26.2 miles will be completed on the treadmill in around four to five hours.

Members of Help for Heroes will be present at these events to provide support and information about the charity ethos and their work.
